Enhancing Your Web Experience

But why ....

Q: Why do I want a BookmarkCommando ?

A: So that you can easily, quickly and conveniently access the websites, email addresses and phone numbers you need, from any location where you have web access.

A: One of the problems with using the Web is that unless you carry the same ‘PC’ around with you everywhere, the interesting and useful Websites you have stored in your browser aren't accessible, neither are your phone numbers, email addresses etc. This will get worse with the arrival of internet access devices in the form of a mobile telephone (WAP devices) and static mass market devices like digital TV - plus a whole host of access devices that are coming to market right now. Potentially all these devices will need your bookmarks loaded onto them, so that you can always see your information. This makes no sense if you even have bookmarks or know what they are and this is compounded by all the passwords you need to use for your secure sites.

A: It is a fair assumption that the majority of people are not computer literate, let alone Web literate and don't know how to find Websites of interest without inadvertently getting 3,000,000 irrelevant hits from a conventional search engine. Very off-putting and definitely not user friendly. To some extent a Web Portal or browser helps this situation, but to date, no one has come up with a democratic, independent and commercially viable way of doing all these things regardless of how you access the Web. BookmarkCommando answers all these questions and more, which is why OutSource Group, Informix, Oninit and methornton.com have opted to work in a joint product development venture.

A: BookmarkCommando sits in 'cyberspace', in it's own secure server. When you join the community you are offered the ‘best of’ bookmarks from the existing community. In its next iteration it may ask you what your areas of interest are, for both personal and work environments. From this, it will make an initial recommendation as to what sites you may want preloaded as hyperlinks into your personal BookmarkCommando .

A: As the BookmarkCommando service isn't actually sitting on the access device you may use, any access device can now view the information the user has set up in their password protected BookmarkCommando . So if you have been introduced to the concept through your television, you can also use it at work or on the train and with many different access devices. So now you can get always see your Tesco account, bank account, travel information, telephone numbers, email addresses, ftp sites, work information etc., wherever you are. All this without having to accept ‘forced’ irrelevant advertising as a penalty. As the product also optionally stores all favourite passwords, access to even secure sites becomes a ‘one button’ or automatic operation.
